The Pyramid Foundation has announced a change in leadership.
Compassionate, a dedicated breeder, hard-working, studious, creative, insightful are just a few of the words describing Christie Metz. It was those and other attributes that served as the drivers behind Christie’s efforts in getting The Pyramid Foundation, Inc., established in 1997. Created as a 501(c)3 charitable arm of The Pyramid Society, its mission is to enhance public recognition and appreciation of the Arabian horse with an emphasis on the Egyptian Arabian horse through educational activities and publications, historical tours, and art featuring the Egyptian Arabian, as well as other charitable activities under the guidelines of a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation. Significant projects under Christie’s leadership have included the Desert Legend Series, Historical DVDs, the Mary Haggard Giclee prints, Custom Artistic Pedigrees, informative reference materials and ongoing support of the Society’s educational activities and Breeders’ Conferences.
The Straight Egyptian and Heritage classes were well supported by Pyramid Society members. The quality of contenders was outstanding and the crowd was on their feet as the horses were presented and the winners were announced. The Straight Egyptian Champions took home a special bronze trophy, “Egyptian Pharaoh,” created by Dennis Hilkhuijsen, along with exclusive neck garlands sponsored by The Pyramid Society.
With those accomplishments to her credit, Christie recently announced her decision to be a “cheerleader in the background,” instead of remaining the front runner. Christie has definitely earned her stripes, not only serving as the Foundation’s president but also as a committed Society Board member who successfully ran the Society’s art auction for many years. She continues to serve the Society as one of its esteemed trustees. And in this case, good things come in pairs. Her husband, Henry, also a trustee, very capably led the Society as its president for eight years. Henry and Christie also are life members of The Pyramid Society.
Janice Bush, who served as co-chair of the Society’s Education Committee and worked closely with Christie on numerous projects, will be taking the reins as The Pyramid Foundation President.
The Pyramid Society Board of Directors, fellow trustees, members and staff are grateful for leaders in its world-wide Arabian community who exemplify the qualities of Henry and Christie Metz as well as Janice Bush. They will continue to be inspired by their vision, dedication and efforts on behalf of the Egyptian Arabian horse, The Pyramid Society and The Pyramid Foundation, Inc.
